Winning Chess
-
Article By M, Hayward
- Wining at chess
requires not just
skills and
experience but a
balanced style of
play. If one is over
aggressive you may
score more wins than
the normal, But you
might also incur
more losses as well.
For example lets say
you played 100 games
aggressively and
subsequently won 45
games. lost 45
games. And drawled
10 games. Fischer as
similar stats. Just
less aggressive.
Anyways this would
show you to be a
risk taker. Often
big chess risk
takers win the most
but there attack is
often floored and
can be countered.
Lets examine other
stats. games 100.
Wins 35 losses 35
draws 30. this
player looks more
balanced with = wins
to loss ratio and
30% draw ratio. This
player is between
aggressive and
defensive but still
somewhat aggressive.
Kasparov as a ratio
close to this.. Lets
examine another
statistic. 100 games
players. 25 wins and
25 losses. 50%
draws. this player
is defensive as
shown by win and
loss ratio in
comparison to draws.
Karpov and Spassky
as a ratio close to
this. What's your
ratio. And what do
you think it should
be.
