There's much to be said about chess styles.
Each chess player as a preferred style of play.
Its an art in trying to find the positions on a
chess board where you can exploit the best of
your talents. So what chess styles are there.
And What generally determines a chess style.
1. Well fist a chess style is
determined by the line of play we choose over
other possible lines of play. And a chess style
is determined by our opening choices. If we
choose complex openings then we will most likely
land complex positions. If we choose defensive
openings then our style could be classed as
defensive. And our mid game positions would be
safer.
2. What basic styles of play is
there.
2.1 Aggressive. One may play strong
lines always looking to attack. Kasparov the GM
tends to play like this.
2.2 Defensive. One might play more
careful making sure there king is safe. Defence
solid. Only when defense is solid would they
look to attack. And they weight for opponent to
slip up rather than force opponent into a bad
position. These players often take care of there
pieces slowly forming and reforming there ranks.
They may make careful adjustments in position
and will manipulate tiny disadvantages in enemy
territory until the disadvantage becomes a big
one. Karpov tends to play like this. A great GM.
2.3 Sacrificial player. A sacrificial
player tends to like to seek trade possibilities
allot. He tends to like trading pieces fast to
get down to the end game situation where he is
more practiced at winning there.
